Lighting Up Wimbledon – Our Pop-Up at Elys Department Store
This week, we’re thrilled to be popping up in the wonderful Elys department store in Wimbledon, thanks to the brilliant team at Pop Up Indie—a company dedicated to helping small brands like ours get in front of a wider, in-person audience.
Our pop-up journey actually started with John Lewis in Kingston and Reading, and wow... what a learning curve it’s been! We went in expecting to sell out instantly (because let’s be honest—our lamp bases and lampshades are fabulous, right?). But reality had other plans.
We left those first pop-ups feeling deflated. Sales weren’t immediate, and it felt like a bit of a flop—until the orders started coming in. One here, two there, even three and four weeks later. That’s when it hit us: lighting isn’t an impulse buy.
Interior lighting—especially something as unique and personal as our handmade lamp bases and shades—takes thought. People want to consider their space, their colour palette, their vibe. And honestly? We love that. Because we’re not here to sell things you’ll regret later. We want each piece to be loved, admired, and smiled at for years to come.
So if you walk away empty-handed at first, we’re okay with that. It just makes the final decision—and the final piece in your home—all the more meaningful.
